Good Times

I remember it like it was yesterday even though it has been some years now. It was a morning like every other in a lot of ways but it would turn out to be a day like no other in the grand scheme of things. I remember waking up to a bit of drama as a matter of fact. The street crew was hard at work with the jack hammer. The construction crew outside of my apartment was ripping the street apart to work on the sewers or something. It actually seems to me like they take the street apart to fix something like that and then rebuild the road only to tear it up again for another utility almost immediately. It is almost like a regular rotation that never really seems to end and it cant be very cost effective. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, it was a little harder than usual to get out of the house that morning.

Usually on Saturday mornings I like to take my dog for a nice long walk. It is good for both of us really. He started to gain a little extra weight recently so my wife ad I had to change his diet to get him back in shape. Every since them I have tried to pick up his exercise routine as well. We’ve been going for at least 3 or 4 walks a week. It has really made me feel better so I am sure it is doing the some for him. After we walked over to the 7-11 for an iced coffee I ended up at the dog park with Indiana. I named him after Indiana Jones’ dog. To clarify, if you watch Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade you likely know that Indiana’s dad (a character played by Sean Connery) explains that he didn’t name his son Indiana. That was their dog’s name…

After we had a game of fetch and he was all worn out it was a much more relaxed walk on the trip home. We both had a nice run while we played. When we got home my wife had lunch prepared for She and I but I was way dirty so it would have to wait until after a shower. When I did get to it I remember thinking that it was wonderful. She makes this grilled cheese sandwich that is to die for. It has a thick crust of parmesan cheese on the outside of the bread coating the butter. When you dip that into a big bowl of hot tomato soup it’s just divine. I always try to spend plenty of time with her. Sometimes we are both just so busy that we don’t really get the chance to catch up until meal times. They are always the best time of day for me.
